The only art classes I have taken were those taught in school. I am, for the most part, self-taught. I have been doing arts and crafts for fun since I was a little kid. Freshman year, I took Drawing and Design, in which I learned several skills and techniques, which helped improve the quality of my work. Junior year, I took AP Studio Art 2D, in which I created a portfolio and experimented with different media. I have always loved to express my personality, interests, and passions through my pieces. For example, my AP 2D concentration was on "the social and political impact of modern technology." This gave me the opportunity to explore the societal implications of the work that I could do later on in my life, as I embark in a STEM career. My work also expresses my Portuguese heritage and love of soccer.
