MAKER PORTFOLIO
SOLDERING, 3D PRINTING, & LASER ETCHING
[2013-15]

3D Printing
Freshman and sophomore years, I had access to the Robotics Club's 3D printer and learned CAD to design parts for the robot. Unfortunately, I did not keep pictures. But, using Solidworks, I was also able to design pieces for the 3D printer. So, I created the two "Millenium Falcon" (our team name) coasters and a star Christmas ornament. With my shape-shifting robotics project, I heavily used 3D printers to print my flaps. I have also printed small objects for fun, such as armbands and 3D logos.

Soldering Microcontrollers
Over the summer, I was an engineering intern at a local marine tech company. They mainly built camera and laser systems. One of my assignments was to fix improperly designed boards, like the one shown in the image, by soldering loose or missing components. While I had done some soldering before, I had never worked at this level of precision. It was the first time that I soldered boards using microscopes and flux.

Laser Etching
At my engineering internship, I was assigned to fix the broken laser etcher. After spending quite a while on this, they let me have a little fun with it, before returning to the corporate projects. So, I got to laser etch my name into my cellphone and my nickname into my phone case.
